About Thabile Nursery School

Nestled in the northern suburb of Blairgowrie Randburg, Thabile Pre-School provides quality education for preschool aged children.

Thabile was established in 1973 and operates as a NPC. Any profit remains in the school for upgrades and maintenance. Thabile is a member of ISASA.

We aim to develop the whole child - emotionally, socially and intellectually. We endeavour to build positive self-esteem and teach children to cope with life situations, trying to develop them to their full potential. At Thabile, we utilise play-based learning to achieve these goals. Children learn by playing and experimenting. We try expose them to as many concrete opportunities as possible. The process of doing is far more important than the end product

Thabile can comfortably accommodate 140 children between the ages of 2 and 6 years of age. All our teachers have more than 10 years experience and are qualified to teach grades 0000 through to Grade R (0).

Our Grade R (0) year follows the school readiness program. Nursery school assistants are employed to assist the teachers in the classrooms. Jacki Graham, the Principal, takes each of the classes for a focused ring once a week.

The three younger groups (Grades 0000 and 000) enjoy classical music appreciation; and the two middle groups (Grade 00) do classical music appreciation and numeracy. Jacki also works with the Rainbow group (Grade R) teachers with literacy and numeracy, splitting the groups according to ability, to allow for more individual attention for both struggling and more advanced learners. Teaching with Audiblox, a programme used to improve auditory listening skills, is also done with the Grade R’s.

Facilities

The Thabile property has a secure palisade fence around the perimeter the property, along with security cameras and an armed response. There is an onsite security guard, and motorised access gate.

Thabile boasts a large, fully equipped playground, filled with activities and equipment that not only get kids exercising whilst playing, but also educates them on road safety and other important life skills. Additional gross motor equipment is set out daily for children to help fine tune their balance and co-ordination.

We are proud of our extensive library and promote a culture of reading and appreciation of books. Children choose two library books to take home for the week. Themed books are used in the classrooms by the teachers to reinforce their weekly themes.

The main function of the PA is to act as a link between the school and the parents, and members are actively involved with social functions and fundraising events that take place through the year.
